Bandung? Never heard of it!

Jakarta is the capital of Indonesia, and it is ENORMOUS! It's one of the worlds biggest mega cities, with a population of 30 million, compared to say Manchester which has 2.8 million. Soooo, all in all we didn't fancy living in this crowded city when it came up as a possible destination. We thought our Indonesian dream was over, but when we were offered Bandung, we couldn't believe our luck! it's like Jakarta's cooler, greener, hippier sibling!

It's still pretty crowded, and we're told traffic is horrendous, with most Indonesian people heading there for an escape away from the city every weekend. However, it is surrounded by beautiful mountains, lakes and forests.

There is a big food scene with loads of cool, hip restaurants and bars. They also have fashion week and there are plenty of festivals and concerts happening around the city.

So, although it may first sound like we're moving to the sticks, we won't actually be living in trees houses and wearing flipflops the whole time :)
